Week 11 Picture Plane

Paper bag, Pencil

I chose a small slightly crumpled shopping bag for this assignment.  The bag is fairly thick and has stiff handles.  The light is coming from the left side of the picture plane.

Paper bag, Conte Crayon

There are two bags drawn in the conte crayon.  The perspective is extremely close.  I don't like the conte crayon as much as pencil or charcoal.  I find it more difficult to express shadows and show texture and value.  However, I did like the effect it had when I rubbed the paper with the side of the crayon.  It gave it a bag texture look.

Week 11 Point of View

One-point Perspective

I lined myself up to the objects on the tabe so that the center of the drawing was my angle of vision. I then located the horizon line and traced lines to the vanishing point for each object.  I used pencil for the medium.

Two-point Perspective

For the two point perspective I moved the objects so that they were angled and are oblique to the picture plane.  This meant there were two vanishing points, one left and one right.  I used pencil and charcoal.

Three-point Perspective

For the three-point perspective I kept the same ange as the two-point but tried to add some height.  There is now a third vanishing point that extends from the tissue box. Pencil and Charcoal.

Bird's Eye View

The bird's eye view was drawn looking down at the objects on the floor.  Pencil.

Ant's Eye View

For the Ant's Eye view, I placed the objects on the table and I sat on the floor looking up at the to draw.

Week 10 - Color

I chose to create a analogous color scheme with cutouts.  From the color wheel I chose yellow, orange, and red.  These are warm colors and give the piece an exciting and emphatic feel.  I layered some of the cutouts to give even more texture to the piece.  The shapes have a leaf look with out being obvious as leaves.  This plays well with the fall like colors I chose.  The red "dots" bring the viewers focus through the piece.
